Q & A

Q:

How much do you cost?

A:

Oh, I see, we are jumping right into the serious questions here! I understand, planning a wedding budget can be SO DIFFICULT! A budget is a budget and you can't change that. My wedding packages vary greatly in cost. Elopements start from $2000, while full wedding packages start from $3500 and can range upwards to $5000 depending on a variety of factors. I have a great informational packet that outlines what I'm talking about, just send me an inquiry to learn more!

Q:

Do you blog all of your weddings? Do you post every photo you take on the Insta-face-twitter-tubes?

A:

The short answer is no, I do not blog all my weddings, nor do I post from every shoot on my social media. That would take A LOT of time, and while I wish I had the time to blog every single project I've done... I would need a huge team of people working for me to accomplish that much publishing!

Q:

Can I print your images?

A:

Absolutely! With each of my photography packages, I include a photo printing/posting release. I even upload all of the final images to my Smugmug gallery where you can easily and conveniently print PREMIUM QUALITY photos.

Q:

What? What in the world is a print release???

A:

A print/post release is a little document that allows you to print and keep my photographs, as well as share them online. As the subjects, the US Copyright System doesn't give you many rights...and since I think you're all pretty great subjects, you deserve some rights to print and post my work. You can post the photos on Facebook, you couple get them imprinted on mugs for your morning coffee, you could even print an enormous banner of one of your images to run through for your 1st year anniversary. What you can't do, is sell the images, pass the work off as your own, or alter the images (i.e. put a nasty Instagram filter on it)! Seriously, that hurts my feelings.

Q:

The guy at Walgreens will print all of my wedding photos in exchange for homemade cookies and a smile!! Should I print all of my photos there???

A:

While discount print-shops such as Walgreens and Shutterfly may save you some pennies when printing your photos, I highly recommend printing through a professional print-shop! If you are already investing thousands of dollars into your wedding photography, it is so worth the little extra money it takes to have your photos printed right. Believe me, save your homemade cookies and check out some of these print-shop comparisons online. Yes, and I do offer professional printing services at a slight discounted price through my Smugmug website!

Q:

How many weddings do you shoot a year?

A:

I take a very personal approach to wedding photography. I am not with any company, and I like to personally get to know each of my clients. Because of this, I take a very limited number of weddings each year. Currently, the cap is set at around 20.

Q:

Will you plan my wedding day for me?

A:

I am not a wedding planner / day-of coordinator. However; I love to help with the photography schedule. There are a ton of resources available online to help you plan the timeline of your wedding day! When it comes to the photography side of things, I am here to offer my input, but ultimately it is up to you to decide how your wedding day will look.

Q:

How many hours of coverage do you provide?

A:

This really depends on what will best suit the wedding celebration. For elopements, I have found that couples only need about 4 hours of coverage to capture the most important parts of the day. For my full wedding packages, I usually recommend 10 to 12 hours to capture everything from the preparations, to dancing at the reception.

Q:

Do you give us every single photo you take? How many images are you going to give us? Can I have all of the files?

A:

I take a ton of photos during a wedding day. I give my word that I deliver every single photo that artfully contributes to your wedding set. This is not every single photo that I take. In hiring a professional photographer to capture your wedding day, you have chosen someone to use their skills to curate a set of photographs that will encompass the feeling and emotion of the day, that you can look back on to remember this time of your life for years to come - this is not just a scramble of thousands of random snaps. For each wedding, I usually deliver 700 to 1000 images from a full day. :)

Q:

Can we give you a list of shots we want you to take?

A:

A wedding shot list is essentially a list of instructions for your wedding photographer to follow on your wedding day or engagement shoot. I absolutely love it when my clients are really excited about a shoot. Coming up with a list of shots seems like a logical approach to get what you want out of the photography, however; a shot list will actually hinder the photo process and keep you from getting the photos that you really want. Setting up a shot list sets up a scenario for disappointment. I want to capture your celebration in its absolute best form, and that's in it's natural state. If we were to try and mimic a moment seen on someone's Pinterest or Instagram, we would likely miss 10 natural opportunities for great photos within that time. There's an incredible article on this from Junebug Weddings - "If you were hiring a mechanic to fix your car or a handyman to repair your dryer, you probably wouldn’t tell them how to do their job. You hired them because they’re the expert! Your photographer is a professional too, which is why you’ve hired them to capture your big day instead of leaving those moments to be documented by a friend with a camera. "

Q:

Can I put my favorite Instagram filters on the photos you gave me? *_*

A:

NOooooOOOOooOOooOoooooooo

Q:

When will we receive all of our photos?

A:

This is all dependent on the time of season/year your shoot occurs. Generally speaking, I deliver wedding sets anywhere from 4 - 8 weeks, and engagement sets 3 - 4 weeks.

Q:

OMG, that is SO LONG! Why do we have to wait to receive our photos?

A:

I know! It takes a long time. Try to think of your photo set as a really nice fine wine that literally gets better with age. I adjust exposure, white balance, color correct, texturize and so many other things with each individual photo that is delivered. I take extreme care with my work to make sure that you receive only the best, so like a fine wine, it takes a little time to develop. :)

Q:

Do you travel for weddings?

A:

Yes! I love to travel. Before I started wedding photography, I did travel photography. I shoot internationally, and am happy to talk about potential destination weddings / elopements / far away adventure sessions.

Q:

Do you take formal family portraits?

A:

Of course! Family portraits are very important to me. I believe these are some of the photos my clients cherish the most.

Q:

Can we see a full gallery of the images?

A:

Absolutely! I think its one of the best ways to view a wedding album. There's something magical that a clean web-album interface brings to the photo-viewing experience. It also makes it easy to share with friends and family!

Q:

How do we book you?

A:

Through my contact page here on my website!

After sending an inquiry, I send an information packet showing the different wedding collections I offer. From there, I like to hop on the phone with each potential client and talk over what they are looking for in wedding photography. I love to meet potential clients in person as it gives us the opportunity to get to know one another, and have coffee - which I also love. Once all is said and done, I collect a signed contract together with a retainer to book the date!
