It's not often that one gets the opportunity to shoot a wedding like this...
Through working with Laura & Brandon for their engagement portraits last year, I knew that this was going to be a wedding to remember. Upon arriving at Laura's hotel in central Lincoln, many of the bridesmaids were already frantically getting ready. The dresses were being steamed, hair was being done, and spirits were high amidst the rain coming down outside.
After weeks of dry heat in Nebraska, it was surprising that the rain finally came for an early August wedding. However, just as everyone finished getting ready, there was a small break in the clouds and the rain subsided, now a perfect light overcast for the outdoor ceremony.
The wedding colors, a mix of blush and blue, complimented the natural wood surroundings of the southern Lincoln golf-club beautifully. With the outdoor ceremony set on a tiny peninsula off of a fir-tree bordered path, everything was in place by the time guests started to arrive.
In Nebraska, I do not receive very many opportunities to shoot outdoor ceremonies, due to the frequent chance of storms in the summer and the extremely cold winters. For me, shooting this wedding was an absolute treat.
After the ceremony, an extended cocktail hour gave us the chance to capture a variety of portraits alongside the fir-trees and the lake. Within the reception hall, everything was well thought out. From the fresh roses topping the cake, to the eucalyptus fixture hanging from the ceiling in front of the fireplace, the banquet room had been transformed to perfectly fit the theme of the day.
At the end of the night, Laura & Brandon exited through loud cheers and sparklers that lit their way to their getaway vehicle. An equally stunning end to an incredibly beautiful day.
