Copenhagen Downtown Hostel Review | Backpacking Europe

Copenhagen Downtown Hostel Review | Backpacking Europe

One of the most difficult things to figure out when planning a big trip is deciding where to stay. This was especially true for my friends and I when we started searching for our accommodations on our European backpacking trip. Looking into Copenhagen, we were overwhelmed with the number of options. Then, like an answer from the travel-gods, we took our search to HostelWorld and found this glorious gem...

Where to Eat in Copenhagen | Backpacking Europe

Something that is grossly underrated throughout the world and life in general, is Nordic cuisine. It's iconic, it's amazing, it's everything you didn't know you wanted or needed in life, and more. I'm here to tell you, over latter half of the 20th century, Scandinavia has gone through quite a Renaissance when it comes to the diversity and presentation over their previously classic dishes. As Scandinavia's largest metropolitan area, Copenhagen not only boasts some of the greatest and famously sought-after restaurants, but a huge variety of world-class fare. Whether you're stopping in Denmark's capital city for a quick stopover, or diving in for a long immersive experience, you won't want to miss discovering a bit of what makes this place magical, the food!

What To See In Copenhagen | Backpacking Europe

Copenhagen has a special place in my heart. It's the city where I tried smørrebrød for the first time, drank my entire bodyweight in beer, and got engaged!! So, I may be a bit biased, but I do believe Copenhagen should be very close to the top of the list when thinking about making a trip to backpack Europe....

Just be kind to one another. It’s a simple concept. It is free to be a nice person to others.
— Bradlee Wannemacher

I first met Bradlee over a short visit to LA in 2015. We met over a table of Margarita's on Sunset Boulevard, and as the sun lowered and our glasses emptied, we reminisced over the ridiculousness of the internet. Of course we had known each other since like, forever ago. I mean, we followed each other on Twitter! And those on Twitter know that many months of likes, retweets, and snarky replies lined with gifs leads to a life-long friendship. Okay, that may be a gross overstatement. But in this case, after a long time communicating through social media, we were finally having our first in-person hang out, IRL.

As we unloaded about life, YouTube, relationships and everything in-between, I recognized something:

It's not often that you meet an online personality that's unfiltered, and unapologetically raw. That's Bradlee, and it shows through his music. Listen to Bradlee's cover, "Too Good For Goodbyes".

Fast forward to 2018, and we're sitting across one another over a quaint brunch in the heart of LA. Almost 3 years had past, and without hesitation, we dive right back into discussing the arts, our own deep struggles, and our hopes. That's what I personally love, that vulnerability and willingness to be seen. Lucky for me, I had the opportunity to capture a bit of that personality on a fun mini-photoshoot! Q&A With Bradlee Wannemacher :

What got you started with posting content online?

I saw videos of great singers on the internet and thought, “Hey, I can do that.” So, I started posting and got more and more views as time when on.

When did you first get into music? Did you always sing, or did you start with practicing an instrument?

I always sang growing up and loved music so much that I taught myself piano in high school. Granted I'm still not great, but it is something i am still very proud of myself for learning.

Was there any particular experience or time in your life that inspired you to start creating the content you make?

Watching The Grammy's in 2009 - when Pink! performed "Glitter" in the air, it changed my life. It was in that moment I knew i wanted to be something as magical as that moment I was experiencing.

What’s your favorite video you’ve made?

I made a video called "Let Go" a long time ago and the message in that video was very powerful for me. It was the first thing I remember posting that I felt was totally me from the heart.

What is your guilty pleasure?!

Ben and Jerry's, old rock music, mean girls

What impact do you hope to make online, in the world?

I don't know if I will create an impact, but I just strive to give people an outlet to enjoy and escape reality for a few minutes out of their day. As long as that is happening, then I am content.

If there was one thing you could leave with the world, what message would that be?

Just be kind to one another. It’s a simple concept. It is free to be a nice person to others.

What’s next in the life of Bradlee Wannamacher?

I have been going through a crazy time for me. I left all my dreams behind me and was content where I was months ago. After I broke up with my ex, I felt very lost; still do. Im not sure what is next for me but I can say that I'm getting more and more excited for the future which is making me a little more hopeful.

Who are your favorite musical artists? Any favorite songs right now?

I love love love Sia, Pink!, Bieber, Panic At The Disco, 5SOS, 1975, and Hippocampus. Currently, I'm loving The Greatest Showman soundtrack!

If you could be any PokÉmon, who would you be and why?

I never watched much Pokémon, so imma go with Charzard bc I know he’s a big dragon dude.

Who are your inspirations?

Humans inspire me. Random acts of kindness inspires me. Underdog stories inspire me.

Any advice you have to give to young creators / musicians?

Persistence will prevail.
